"Intro to Church History — The Early Church" — Corey Winship
While many Christians are intimately acquainted with the book of Acts, they are often completely unfamiliar with the period of Church history that followed. This course will provide an overview of the early Christian Church from its origins in the 1st century to the early Middle Ages (c. 30–600 AD). We will cover a variety of topics including; early Christian worship and practice, key figures of the early Church and their writings, Catholicism and various early Christian sects, ecumenical councils and creeds, and much more. The goal of this class is that we develop a greater appreciation for the work that Christ has done in His Church and those faithful brothers and sisters who came before us. Although not a requirement, we will be utilizing 2,000 Years of Christ's Power by Nick Needham as a textbook and copies will be available for purchase in the bookstore.

"Women Mentoring Women: The Titus 2 Model" — Marilyn Beltle
In Matthew 28 Jesus directs his followers to make disciples, teaching them to observe all that He commanded. This command is made gender-specific in Titus 2: 3-5, which says that the older women-older in years or in spiritual maturity- should teach the younger women “what is good”, as it relates to our roles as women. Over the last few years, our Women’s Ministry has challenged the women of Grace to do just that, and beautiful relationships centered on the Gospel have ensued. This class will help us to continue doing this, by showing women how to enter into a discipling relationship. We will use the book Spiritual Mothering by Susan Hunt. This book will be available in our bookstore. Please know that there will be homework: reading assignments, as well as practical challenges.

"How Should We Respond To Suffering" — Bob LaForge
Suffering can have many faces: betrayal, loneliness, abuse, death, and more. It can be relentless and take over our thoughts, our motives, our physical abilities, and our lives. It can linger like a brick in our chest for years or even a lifetime. But we are not a people of hopelessness. We are not a people of despair. We are people of resurrection. Our trials are not our grave. We have a firm and assured hope. Optimism says, “Don’t worry, it probably won’t happen.” Hope says, “It may happen, but God will keep us.”
This class will discuss 18 practices as to how we should think and act when we are suffering or in a trial. These include: solidify your spiritual foundation, acknowledge your feelings, find joy, take your grief to God, you are not trapped by your past, and others. We will also examine six ways on how we should respond to other people's suffering including: The importance of presence, acknowledging their grief, not judging them, and others.
The Bible does not give us a glass of water to temporarily quench our thirst. It gives us an ocean of knowledge so that we can more than endure, so that we can have confident victory.
