2024 Winter Term – Sunday School Classes

  1. Class Title: “How To Study The Bible Pt 2: Practical Application” (Co-Ed)

Teacher: Jack McDonald

Time: 10:10-10:50 AM

Room: Sanctuary

How is Bible study a science? How is it a skill? Why is context so important? What are the 5 steps to discover a texts context? How do I make a record of key words, grammatical features, questions and facts? How do I solve interpretive challenges? What does this all look like on an actual passage of Scripture? These questions and more will be the subject of our time together  in Part 2 of How to Study Your Bible.

  1. Class Title: Being a Knight in Darkness (Men Only)

Teacher: Randy Smith

Time: 10:10-10:50 AM

Room: Youth Group Room (Gymnasium Building)

What does it mean to be a man of God? Sadly, most Christian men either do not know or are failing to practice the core biblical principles of manhood. The terms masculinity, integrity, humility, courage, leadership and wisdom when describing men seem outdated, offensive and undesired. As a result, spiritual leadership in the home, church and world is almost extinct. Join us as we humbly and practically explore how to be a godly knight in this present age of darkness (Gal. 1:4).

  1. Class Title: Living as Daughters of the King: Lessons from the Sermon

                      on the Mount (Women Only)

Teacher: Marilyn Beltle

Time: 10:10-10:50 AM

Room: Gym

Elisabeth Elliot said, "The fact that I am a woman does not make me a different kind of Christian, but the fact that I am a Christian makes me a different kind of woman." Looking at Jesus' famous sermon in Matthew 5-7, we will learn about the transformation He wants to make in us as female citizens of His kingdom.

  1. Class Title: A Theology of Biblical Counseling (Co-Ed)

Teacher: Chris Raike

Time: 10:10-10:50 AM

Room:  (School Building Library)

Leaders in Biblical counseling have emphasized a commitment to teaching doctrine in their counseling courses out of the simple conviction that good theology leads to good counseling and bad theology leads to bad counseling.

In A Theology of Biblical Counseling Video Lectures, Heath Lambert unpacks the core convictions and foundations that underlie sound counseling and gives practical wisdom for our counseling (discipling) practices today. Together with the accompanying book, A Theology of Biblical Counseling, these lectures show how Biblical counseling is rooted in the Scriptures, while illustrating the real challenges counselors face today.

A Theology of Biblical Counseling Video Lectures is great for lay counselors, Small Group leaders, for working Biblical counselors, and for counselors-in-training at colleges and seminaries. It is also an excellent foundation for one-on-one discipling and ministry. In each lesson, doctrine comes to life in real ministry to real people, dramatically demonstrating how theology intersects with the lives of actual counselees. The book is required for the class, and is in the bookstore. This is continuation and the conclusion of the prior class. However, each chapter is a new topic, and all are welcomed to attend and can learn and apply the subject matter in each class.
